At Hunky Dory Durham you’ll find the best in vintage vinyl LPs, local and American made glass and vaporizers and a curated selection of beers on tap. It’s like a head shop, tap room and a record store rolled into one, with Durham tees thrown in for good measure.

We’re a different kind of smoke shop. At Hunky Dory, hand-blown glass is the main attraction and we carry works from many local artists…no cheap import glass here. We also take pride in selling only American-made spoons, bubblers, tubes, rigs, ash catchers and more, and are the Bull City’s main source for quality, high-end vaporizers, both portable and at-home units.

In 2019 we introduced our tap room, serving a hop-forward selection a beers you won’t find elsewhere. Stop by for a beer while you shop or just to enjoy during the afternoon or evening.

We strive to have the best used selection of vinyl records around. While many stores reserve their goodies for eBay, Hunky Dory saves its gems for its customers. Shop owner Michael Bell, a Raleigh native and vinyl geek, drives thousands of miles each year hunting vinyl. If he’s not in the shop, he’s likely in someone’s dusty shed, dank basement or dirty garage hunting LPs. Speaking of basements, we opened our own bargain basement within Hunky Dory in the summer of 2016. It had been years since anyone had used the space, so you can imagine the dirt and dust build up. But after a lot of sweat equity we are stoked to now have the place for diggers to dig for hours on end. It’s definitely a great place to score some cheap filler copies of popular titles, and you can also score some gems that didn’t make the top floor because of a various flaw or two. No record should be more than $5 in the basement, and there’s a turntable you can sample records as you browse. There’s also a record cleaner that you can feel free to use as well.

We also added some Grateful Dead clothing and posters as well as tons more posters from the likes of Pink Floyd, Bowie, Misfits, among many others.
